Advising Updates

• Thanksgiving Break starts on Wednesday 11/27, next week. Advising office will be remote on Monday and Tuesday, still hosting virtual drop in advising. 
• Third course permission and STIC permission form will be coming on Monday, November 25 from your advisor -- the form will be sent by EOD on Monday.  (Advisors will close current course request form when we send the new one, future swaps will be over email.) Permissions for 3rd course and STIC course will start to be granted on Monday, December 9. 

• Please check the latest CS Course Capped Waitlists.
• Participate in CRA Survey! 
• 3rd/STIC Permission Form will be coming out on 11/25 by close of business; permissions will be granted starting on 12/9 and no earlier 
  • If your 3rd CS course will put you over 17 credits, reach out to your advisor for information about requesting a high credit load.

2.  Today is the LAST DAY to withdraw from up to 4 credits with a W! Testudo closes at 10:59pm, but Testudo tends to crash around deadlines, so please make your decisions by 10:30pm at the latest.

4.  Students who are new to the CS major, please schedule your Mandatory Advising if you haven't. Returning students, submit your course permission request to your assigned advisor for lifting your Mandatory Advising hold.

   • The University Career Center and the President’s Promise recommends that companies allow students a minimum of 3 weeks to make decisions on an offer. Students receiving offers should contact UCC at cmnscareers [at] umd [dot] edu ASAP for support in making decisions if they are unsure of what to do or are in the process of interviewing with multiple companies. If a student accepts an offer and then reneges to accept another offer, they risk losing the privilege to access our career platforms and attend future recruitment events. Reneging also harms our students' reputations and UMD's reputation as a whole. Please review the Salary Negotiation & Offer Evaluation website for more information
