Capped Waitlists as of Tuesday, November 17

The following CMSC courses have capped waitlists, which means you may not add yourself to the waitlist:

  • CMSC417
  • CMSC420 all sections
  • CMSC421 all sections
  • CMSC422
  • CMSC424
  • CMSC426 section 0101
  • CMSC433
  • CMSC434 all sections
  • CMSC456 0101

At this time, the department does not anticipate opening more seats in these courses. Please understand that the department takes careful consideration when capping a waitlist. Students should request permission for courses that have available seats.

CS Remote Advising Continues Through Fall 2020

The CS Undergraduate Advising Team is committed to ensuring that our students have a high level of advising services while staying safe and practicing appropriate social distance. In order to achieve this goal, we will continue with remote mandatory advising sessions and remote drop-in hours through Fall 2020.

While the CS Advising Team is advising remotely, please reach us by phone via our new phone number and designated times. As of Monday (8/31/20): Monday-Wednesday-Friday 9AM - 11:30AM at (301) 799 - 5182.

Summer 2020 Drop-In Updates

Summer virtual drop in hours begin Monday, June 1 and will be held on most Mondays and Thursdays.

Please check the Undergraduate Advising Calendar for specific dates and times.

Once you are at the calendar, please click on the date of drop in advising and fill out the google form. You will receive additional information once you complete the form.

Important Spring 2020 Deadlines

The last day of the semester is May 12th, 2020

The deadline to drop a course with a "W" has been changed to May 12th, 2020

The last day to withdraw from all courses is May 12th, 2020.

The University of Maryland has moved to a Pass/Fail grading method for the Spring 2020 semester. If students have any questions they are encouraged to visit the Spring 2020 Grading Policy page.

Drop-In Advising Cancelled

Drop-in advising for Spring 2020 has been cancelled until further notice. Please contact your assigned advisor with any concerns or to schedule an audio/video advising session.

Moving Online: Spring 2020

In response to university guidance regarding COVID-19, the CS Undergraduate Office has decided to move academic advising to an online environment for the remainder of the semester. If you need to satisfy mandatory advising, you will be able to meet with your assigned advisor via WebEx, Google Hangouts, or Phone. You will receive instructions from your assigned academic advisor shortly. If you have any questions or concerns please direct them to your advisor.
