Nova Systems is a startup firm in the TAP building at the University of Maryland. We are located right next to the Kim building, and right across from AV Williams and the CSI building. We are looking for a student intern who would like to work on campus during the summer break. Hours will be flexible and we can work with your schedule.

Our ideal candidate will be creative, proficient in multiple programming languages, understand and have experience in Web 2.0 technologies, enjoys keeping up with innovative web practices, and be a self motivated team player who can also work autonomously.

Duties
The developer/designer will primarily create Web & Print materials by designing and executing user interface elements, graphics, and animation; which support the visual, branding, navigational and stylistic needs of the Web site or Web application.
• The designer will prepare work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials.
• Plan concept by studying information and materials
• Illustrate concept by designing layout of images and copy; resolving issues of arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concept.

Requirements
Web development/graphic design experience
Pursuing degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

 Candidate must display strong knowledge of web publishing, managing hosting, domain, and SEO related issues.
 A solid grasp of Javascript, Flash, HTML, XML, ActionScript, and CSS concepts.
 Experience with content management systems
 Proficient in Microsoft Office
 Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
 Ability to prioritize work and juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines is a must.
 Excellent trouble shooting skills.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
 Know the difference between RGB, CMYK, PMS, and when each should be used
 In-depth knowledge of writing cross-browser HTML and CSS

Preferred Skills
 Experience with Adobe After Effects & Adobe Premiere (or a similar program such as Final Cut Pro and LiveType)
 Ability to work on multiple platforms (Mac OSX and Windows)
