The CS Department co-sponsors DC Area Botball, a nonprofit autonomous lego robotics tournament for kids in middle and high school. The competition involves some 50 student teams in the area. See http://www.botball.org/current-season/GDC/

Botball BADLY NEEDS VOLUNTEERS to help in the one-day tournament THIS SATURDAY (May 3). It’s fun and you get a free t-shirt out of it and some free pizza usually too. And you get to see lots of highly innovative lego robot entries from students. You don’t need to know anything about robotics. We have student volunteers repeatedly showing up year after year because they enjoy it so much. Please come help out!

The competition is at Ritchie Coliseum at the University of Maryland. For instructions to get there, see http://www.cs.umd.edu/~jmaybury/KIPR/BB2007/tournament.html

Volunteers should arrive around 9AM. It’d help if you sent mail to Marci Corey (mcorey@kipr.org) and let her know, but if you forget, still come
anyway. Volunteers could also be used on Friday afternoon to help with set up.
