Who We Are
The CATT Lab is an advanced transportation research laboratory at the University of Maryland, College Park. The CATT Lab’s research provides a bridge between the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) community and the information technology community. The CATT Lab specializes in data archiving, data retrieval and visualization, 3D modeling and simulation, and software development. The primary resource of the CATT Lab is the interdisciplinary group of over 50 undergraduate and graduate researchers and talented staff.

Position Description
The CATT Lab designs and manages large, continually updated transportation databases from national and state agencies. The CATT Lab is looking to hire up to five student assistants to the database administrator. Applicants will work with a full time DBA and other student researchers to design and develop new, and maintain existing databases. Good communication skills, teamwork, and a “will to learn” are essential. Students are encouraged to apply even if they do not posses all the required skills listed below.

Position Availability and Benefits
Database Administrator/Developer positions and internships are available on full-time basis starting this summer and can be extended through the fall semester on a part-time basis. Some of the benefits include flexible hours, possibility of course credit for research done at the lab, and full-time post graduation job opportunities with other ITS agencies and companies.

Required Skills
• Strong knowledge of relational database concepts
• Database design, normalization, and management
• Standard SQL syntax

• Data manipulation using Java (JDBC)
