The Computer Science Department invites nominations for student representatives to the Department Council and the Education Committee. Yes, undergraduates have a say in how things are run and what is taught here, so this is a great chance for YOU to make a difference. (Let’s not forget to mention the obvious benefits on a resume too!) Details follow, and YES, you can nominate yourself (i.e. volunteer!)

The Department Council has one seat for an undergraduate student and the Education committee has two seats. All undergrads who are officially registered and declared CS majors are eligible to participate. Nominees can not have served more than two consecutive terms. Nominations will also be accepted from the department’s UG Advisors and the Assoc. Chair for UG Education. Nominations close at midnight on April 20, 2008. Ballots will be distributed the following week. The term of office for both committees is one year beginning July 1, 2008.

The Department Council is an advisory body to the Department Chair. The Chair may call meetings throughout the year depending on the need to discuss broad department issues. The Education Committee reviews issues related to the department’s curriculum and makes recommendations regarding changes.
