Position: IT Support

Location: Fujitsu Laboratories of America - College Park

Supervisor: Dr. Jonathan Agre

Hours: up to 20 per week

Start Date: As soon as possible (April 1 preferred)

End Date:  Up to one year (possible extension)

Wage:  Dependent on experience

Job Description: Assist the staff at FLA-CP in operating and maintaining the computer systems and network at their site.  Work closely with the system administration staff in the Sunnyvale office to resolve problems, perform hardware, software and network upgrades, installations, maintenance and backups.  Additional duties include maintenance and upgrade of our Digital Video Studio equipment and preparation of documentation describing its use.

Educational Level: Undergraduate or graduate in CS or EE

No. Years Experience:  1 year prior experience in computer and network support environment or equivalent.

Additional Specialized Courses: Programming or software development

Skills and Ability:  Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris), network issues (network equipment, firewall, remote access, VoIP, wireless LAN, IPv4 and preferably IPv6 and multicast) and email/Web servers.

Type of Experience:  Experience with configuring and maintaining a computer network.

Familiarity with the Following Equipment:  Windows XP,  Windows 2003 Servers, Windows 2000 (Pro/Server), Network Equipment (such as CISCO or Extreme, Wireless Networks), Linux and Unix environments.

Other Requirements:  Flexible work schedule with ability to occasionally respond after hours.
